Anika noni rose is an American actor and singer. The most famous role she has played is Tiana the first Disney African American princess. She was named a Disney legend in 2011. Rose appeared as Lorrell Robertson in Dreamgirls and was awarded an Academy Award. Anika Noni Rose (born September 6 1972) is an American actor and a singer. She was best known for her performance as Tiana, the Disney Princess. She is her first African American Princess to appear in The Princess and the Frog (2009). In 2011 she was honored as an Disney Legend. Her name was also honoured for her performance in Dreamgirls (2006) in which she won an Academy Award for Best Picture. In the Starz show Power she played the role of LaVerne Jukebox Ganner. She is also known for her performances in theatre particularly in her leading roles as Emmie Thibodeaux and as Emmie in The Broadway show Caroline or Change (2004) in which she was awarded the Tony Award for Best Featured actress in a Musical. She also played Beneatha Younger in the Broadway adaptation of A Raisin in the Sun (2014) for which she received nominations for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play.
